The store located in Akasaka area, top prestigious part of Tokyo. Presence Co., Ltd., an exclusive distributor for Japan, appointed Marketing Standard to assist their business development.
Japanese TV filmed West Midlands gardens
Japanese camera crew has filmed Trentham Estate (www.trenthamleisure.co.uk), Biddulph Grange Garden in Staffordshire and Dorothy Clive Garden in Shropshire. UKTI, AWM Tourism & Leisure and Marketing Standard Limited organised the filming of 3 well known gardens in West Midlands by the presenter, Ms Kay Yamada, a renowned specialist on English gardens. The gradens will be featured on MS Kay Yamada's weekly gardening program on BS11 channel in Japan this autumn. All three venues are also introduced in "The Great Gardens UK" website (www.greatgardensuk.co.uk)
English Garden Show in Osaka was a success!
Made in the UK! A UK paving and flooring manufacturer - Westminster Stone Ltd in Shropshire (www.westminsterstone.com) was invited to the English Garden Show in Osaka presenting their finest products. The event was taken place 9 - 11th April at Daimaru Department - Osaka main store. The main organiser - Barakura (www.barakura.co.jp) and its head gardenger Ms Kay Yamada created an astonishing English garden inside of the department store floor, which attracted 90,000 visitors.
Ms Kay Yamada is winner of the Silver Guilt medal 2 years running at the Chelsea Flower Show, who also runs the largest English garden in Nagano prefecture as well as 23 retail shops throughout Japan. She has been introducing the beauty of English gardens to Japan for many years and her 6 books, magazine articles and TV show have influenced the recent boom in English gardening in Japan.
The participation of Westminster Stone Ltd to the show was arranged by UKTI West Midlands and Marketing Standard Limited for raise awareness of British products to the Japanese garden industry.
Ms Kay Yamada - a Japanese celebrity gardener has visited Glee exhibition

The visit has been organised by AWM (Regional Development Agent: Advantage West Midlands) and Marketing Standard Limited for West Midlands’ companies in the garden industry to expand into the Japanese market.
She has visited 7 Midlands garden products suppliers’ stands and committed further business development with them. Glee is the UK’s biggest garden, pet and leisure tradeshow, held 16 - 18th September at the NEC in Birmingham. During her stay in the Midlands, she has also made an official visit to Trentham Garden in Staffordshire (www.trentham.co.uk) and further cooperation between Trentham and Ms Yamada is expected to develop in the future.
Japan Showcase 2007 went successfully
The West Midlands Exclusive Showcase, which took place at the Interior Lifestyle Exhibition at Tokyo Bigsight on 6 - 8th June, brought great success to UK companies. The event, organised by UK Trade & Investment and Marketing Standard Limited, invited 8 West Midlands companies to introduce their top quality products to the Japanese market. The exhibitors successfully acquired distributors not only from Japan, including Mitsukoshi Department Stores, but also from Korea, thereby expanding their trading opportunities in Far Eastern markets.
